ITAP of an unidentified male Hawaiian monk seal who showed up at one of our pup sites when I was on Oahu this summer.

Male monk seals frequently show up at pup sites, perhaps trying to get an inside track on making friends with mom... but mother monk seals definitely do not want visitors when they are nursing a pup.

Oh, I’ve seen them chase off birds, like the wandering tattler I was telling @artzydreams about. Anything getting close to their baby, they treat as a threat.

Hawaiian monk seals, and pup sites in particular, were my primary reason for getting my 200-500mm lens. A fantastic investment!
