ITAP of an unidentified male Hawaiian monk seal who showed up at one of our pup sites when I was on Oahu this summer. Male monk seals frequently show up at pup sites, perhaps trying to get an inside track on making friends with mom... but mother monk seals definitely do not want visitors when they are nursing a pup.

Ha ha ha… none was quite the ham that the legendary Benny was, though. I once got asked to verify his ID on a North Shore beach near one of our pup sites, and then asked to go to Ala Moana Beach park (in Honolulu) after work the next night since he had hauled out there. That boy got around! 🤙🏼💙🦭
