A place to discussion nature on Farcaster

I have always found lots of friends on Kauai, like when we were headed to the airport and found this turtle (maybe a slider?) trying to cross the street.

On the mainland, the general rule is to put them across the road in the direction they were headed, but since these turtles don’t belong on Kauai at all, I believe it washed out of someone’s decorative pond during a week of crazy rain and flooding.

Where do you put it if it doesn’t belong? Dinner?

I put it in a water bucket on the farm where we found it. We were headed to the airport, so we didn’t really have time to do anything else. Figured that at least gave it a better chance than wandering in the fields.

Make sure to put some stones in too so they can rest above water

Good point… this was a couple years ago, and we really didn’t have time to do much of anything but either leave it to wander an environment it didn’t belong in, or put it in the bucket of water and hope for the best.
