When we were on Kauai last month, I wasn't quite up for miles of hiking... so we missed one of my favorite beaches, a spot for Hawaiian monk seals and Honu. For the most part, Honu are acclimated to people but when you get to the neighbor islands, there are still some wild places where they will head to the ocean at the first sight of a person. When I startled this Honu from an afternoon nap, I moved away, but it still raced back to the ocean. One last look at me on my perch, snapping this portrait.
