We need a movement for offline spaces, just like walkable cities.

Faraday cage environments where phones and laptops simply don’t work. 

Libraries with pencil and paper and no distractions.

Laptops without WiFi chips, so you can type offline and then sync back manually via USB or Ethernet when you want.

Restaurants with phone lockers at the front, where everyone must check in devices beforehand.

my phone makes me feel gross

i got a light phone i am waiting on and want to open a vinyl record bar in bk where people can’t use their devices 

maybe this is an analog midlife crisis

who decides which record gets played? 

is it like a normal dj setup or more like a jukebox?

or when one stops first come first served?

one recommendation is to sometimes let the record stop playing and for there to be a brief silence before the next one starts 

not so much to be awkward but just enough time for ppl to realize some time has passed
