Several years ago, I spent 10 days in silence, spending most of that time developing a vipassana meditation practice. One of the major benefits is increased awareness of my body. Sometimes my body hints that I'm not okay even when I think I'm fine. Like realizing I'm breathing faster or clenching my jaw. Once I sense this, I can pause and check in with myself. Often, simply adjusting my mindset puts me at ease. The meditative practice set a foundation for me to build this skill and maintain a peaceful presence more often. wow I think I’d be a great candidate for this practice, as I actually enjoy and appreciate silence. Probably harder to achieve if you don’t live alone or have to go to work etc.

For sure. So many people say the silence would be challenging, but it was easy for me. My mind was so clear not having to worry about what to say or do. The entire day is planned out - mostly meditating. 😄 It was a lot of time to take off work. Thankfully, things weren't so busy and I could work it out with my supervisor.

sounds so comforting actually..Was it done at home or in a facility?

In a facility with others and the setups are different. In some facilities the rooms are singles and others, group rooms. The facility I attended had group rooms with bunkbeds.
