One lesson AI founders must learn from the Reddit fiasco: if you're developing a product that relies on another platform - creating a third-party app on Reddit or a tool using OpenAI - you're constructing a sandcastle during low tide. Sooner or later, the tide will come in.

I think the jury is out on OpenAI - I’m not convinced that they’re motivated to own the customer relationship for every user of a GPT model. In hindsight though the Reddit thing was inevitable, we’ve seen the same thing happen on Facebook, Twitter, etc

Usage based paid API too. They win in all cases. Still a risk but not the same as building on Twitter or Reddit
