How often do people ask you: “what are you listening to?”


For me it’s at least 3 times a week and more often if I’m attending a mixer or conference.

I rather talk about artists who excite me vs “put someone on”, so I have different responses if the person is:
1) tastemaker
2) in the culture
3) normie

Tbh I stopped naming up-and-coming artists to most people, but I know what you mean.

I rather have a back and forth convo than receive a confused stare or follow up questions about musicians they’ve never heard of because it’s hard to stay caught up with new music, international artists, emerging genres & trends

I know what you mean, that's why I do a mix of both. If I can turn one person onto an up and coming artist and give them more support and a new fan, it makes my day!
