Anyone else have a grand Cherokee 4xe (or wrangler I guess) and think the hybrid system is garbage? Speed sucks. Gas mileage sucks. Can’t run electric only for any meaningful time because they force you to use gas so it doesn’t go bad (understandable). Completely manic electric/gas distribution in hybrid mode.

It's still relatively new to FCA vehicles and it is by no means an all-electric system. Hybrid mode has a bit of an "all or nothing" throttle feel to it. I thought the 2.0t had enough power for the brick-shaped truck tho. I'm curious to know what kind of real-world fuel mileage you're seeing that concerns you?

I'm seeing anywhere from 17mpg to 20mpg in town. The lack of battery use in hybrid mode its partially due to the cold (it doesn't seem to like sub 50degrees), but its cold here in montana 7-8 months of the year. I've had 5 grand cherokees. The last one was a 3.6l L, got maybe 20 in town. The v8's all got 16ish.

The new Hurricane engine (I6) is supposed to be a game-changer. Pretty sure they'll have a hybrid version of that as well but it's said to have Hemi torque levels with better fuel mileage. Seems like a better fit than the 4-cyl to me 🤷🏼

The inline 6 I had on my wranglers was the best engine Jeep made. I know this will be totally different, no pushrods, but still. It's frustrating that my RS5 gets the same mileage while I'm driving it like a total asshole in RS Sport mode. I know its like 25% less curb weight but damn, the jeep is a damn hybrid.
