This stained glass now in Otaru, was rescued from St. John's Episcopal Church in Jersey City, USA. It was built in 1871 by architect John Remsen Onderdonk. Once the largest Anglican church in New Jersey, the building was so lavish that it was called the "Millionaire's Church". However, as the times changed, so did the environment surrounding the church, leading to its closure in 1994. The stained glass made by Louis Comfort Tiffany lives again thanks to the city of Otaru. Can you imagine Tiffany glass not being cared for forever? Thank you Otaru for rescuing one of the greatest artists to live in modern times and his work.
