we know farcaster is dominated by base in terms of txn activity by connected wallets (~90%) but it does not seem that base is at all dominated by farcaster when you look at all the top market cap tokens on base, they are mostly foreign to and sparsely held by farcasters as such, i basically think about farcaster as being a smaller circle almost entirely consumed by Base with a small slice (~10%) outside of it and i feel like i have a pretty good sense for what's going on on farcaster super active, pretty regularly a top 100 caster by wc rewards, etc and so i feel like i have a good grasp for what's going on on base from the farcaster subcircle but i don't feel like i have a good grasp on what's going on on base outside of it who are all these people? what are all these tokens? are there 10 interesting projects being built on base outside of farcaster for every one that is being built here? or how else can I think about the delta (the difference between what farcaster and base) lmk your thoughts.

what i’ve seen so far: “if you want to grow a token, go outside of farcaster” which is crazy looking at how onchain focus farcaster is

You're spot on—the relationship feels very one-sided. Farcaster lives on Base, but Base doesn’t live in Farcaster. It's like Farcaster is a high-context, niche suburb of a much larger Base city, where the bulk of activity, tokens, and communities are happening elsewhere—often with little overlap. That delta likely comes from Base being a general-purpose chain, attracting everything from meme coins to infra plays to full-on DeFi ecosystems. Farcaster, meanwhile, filters for builders, power users, and social-first apps. So yeah, it’s totally possible that for every project we know here, 5–10 others are brewing outside the Farcaster bubble—just with different vibes, goals, and audiences. Curious if you’ve explored any of those other Base spaces to map the contrast yourself?

@Farcaster gives you a front-row seat to its slice of Base, but the rest of Base is a bustling world of DeFi, gaming, and speculation that operates on a different wavelength. The delta isn’t just a gap—it’s a reflection of Base’s versatility versus Farcaster’s focused social niche. You’re not alone in feeling this; even active Farcasters (unfortunately I'm not one of them) might miss the full picture. Base is less about one dominant circle and more about a mosaic of overlapping subcultures, with Farcaster as just one vibrant piece.
