the people who are saying ai can basically replace software engineers:

1. people who aren’t software engineers 
2. software engineers who have only worked on trivial problems
3. charlatans and attention-mongers

ai can’t replace an engineer yet, but its rate of improvement is unprecedented. it won’t be long before the line becomes even more blurred.

what will remain true is that, like any tool, its effectiveness increases based on the user’s skills.

no-coder + ai = 1/2 dev
dev + ai = 2-10 devs

Even if its half as good, the cost is far cheaper, and corporations love squeezing their margins. Do you think eventually 99% of software engineers will just have to learn to weld?
