but then how much of our identity is created and depends on institutions to validate the simple fact that we are humans and that we are who we say we are? Now I’m wondering if we’ll get to the point where institutions will adopt validation techniques found in crypto in order to prove that we are who we say we are.

I made an anonymous instagram account to read poetry and it was deleted the next day due to problems verifying identity. Then it got me thinking. Does the identity validate the artists work? If a nameless one were to create work that goes into the void, would it mean anything? Is a lack of identity worth anything?

I recently ran an experiment on instagram, where I reached out to every follower. Each message was some iteration of “hey long time no see! I hope you’re doing well” with some personal twist or connection to them. What I found was that it’s not actually that hard to stay in touch but it does take some level of intentionality.

Even though we are filtered through pixels on a page, human connection is fundamental to our existence.
