What’s the first principles reasoning for why Apple TV is a thing? Moreso from a content perspective than the hardware perspective.

Device — Jobs was working on a TV before he died and then it got shelved. Apple TV was the way to get people using the software before the hardware shipped.

Content — services revenue push

The content is more known as AppleTV+
The hardware is known as AppleTV

Dunno the why on a lot of it, but I assume much of the why is so many other established players were also entering the space and so streaming was seen as a colonizing opp for home entertainment.

Bundling add-on with the hope that it becomes a motivator. Same as how Amazon bundles Prime Video. They want to upsell you from iCloud to Apple One. The jump from $1.99 to $29.99.

Rent/purchase movies from Apple instead of Amazon

Justification for Vision Pro: entertainment, sports, etc.
