Also concerning that public sector jobs more than doubled (as a proportion) during this period

Maybe that widened gap between public sector and self employed is people flocking to safety in public sector vs unpredictability in self employment?  If a 'sidr hustle' or side gig is layered on top of this I wonder if it went up post-covid?
