hi! Not trying intrude on the female centric space, just have a question. How can organizations in web3 do better to avoid the “boys club” nature of tradfi and fintech leadership? Is it as bad as it seems to me as a casual observer? Do you appreciate those who actively advocate for more women in web3 ?

It is as bad, if not worse. When I was Head of Product at a consulting firm, I’d intro myself as that at networking events and 1min later the guy I’m speaking to would ask if I’m someone’s girlfriend or secretary. I get mansplained on how to do my own job by clients.

Constantly feel like I’m getting “tested” to see if I actually know what I’m talking about. 15min into deep technical convos, lots of guys will be like “woah ok a chick who knows what she’s talking about wow!” Get pushed to the side a lot in all-male teams, not invited to hangs or excluded from gc’s

How to fix it? Give women more space to be heard. If you notice someone cutting them off, or taking their idea they’ve already said, repackaging it & then getting the credit - correct who deserves the credit. See someone getting a job bc he’s someone’s bro but there’s a great female candidate? Say something

It isn’t going to be fixed if half the population continues to think “it’s not my problem or my place to step in and say something” Yes it is!!! It’s unfortunate but most men need to hear it from other men, when women complain it’s seen as “over reacting” “reading into things” “unimportant”

I am simultaneously both saddened and comforted that it resonates with someone else 🙃

Thx for sharing. I’m sorry that this experience is so universal, pretty big bummer. I’m sad to say my partner has shared this experience as well and it’s so infuriating bc she didn’t want to “stir the pot” by saying anything and when she did, leadership and HR were dismissive

@dwr.eth @dwr.eth in convos like this, it feels strange to “heart” certain replies. Maybe you could add alternative reactions? Just a friendly suggestion 🙂
