Our aerospace tech is superior to Russia’s. Revealing what we know about the objects could unintentionally help Russia figure out HOW we know it. We don’t want them to provoke us to a point that we “reveal our hand” in terms of aerial intelligence gathering assets and tech. 

And, cynically, We also don’t want our own  population to know that it’s nothing to worry about because it would make us “lower our guard” lower the constant level of fear needed to keep the military industrial complex endlessly funded and unquestioned in its use of its resources.
