First game of my second season coaching jv high school basketball tonight. We run a 2-3 zone defense and try to turn absolutely everything into a fast break (our primary offense). But above all the key is to get everyone to buy into a positive, team-first mentality and give 100%. I reckon that applies at all levels.

Love the fast break but not a fan of zone tbh why a zone?

How does defensive rebounding go? That was always the downside when we’d run this - no assigned guy to box out meant a lot of offensive rebounds

We are less athletic and undersized compared to the majority of our opponents. I also like making the other team win in a way they are unaccustomed to (zone offense) which they likely practice a lot less. Lastly, I grew up a big Syracuse basketball fan and cannot ignore I may have some bias from that.
