I’m sorry. That was not my intention. I was speaking about the Bystander effect in general. Not about you. Absolutely no judgement. Like I said, you were aware of this. Of why you acted this way. That means you weren’t stuck in instinctual response. Most people are not aware of it. I’m sorry I gave you the wrong impression. Like I said about workers who are first medical responders. They have a duty to remain healthy. In case they have to help someone. And tantrums escalate so fast. No, I admire you for thinking about it enough to bring it up as a conversation topic. 😀👊🏼. The fist is a ‘fist bump’ signifying solidarity.

All people, everywhere have these same psychological things going on. Our brains spend a lot of time playing tricks on us. It takes quite a lot to press past a fear response. It is not a weakness. It’s just human.

Oh you are absolutely correct. You knew that if you got involved, more people would get hurt, and you definitely would. First aid, first responders, we need them to stay uninjured. They can’t help anyone if they also get hurt.

lol. I completely ignore new followers if they haven’t replied to me, or liked my posts at all. That’s a huge red flag that someone is a bot, or worse, they think this is a popularity contest. Conversation is not a contest of numbers.

That is often part of it. But it can happen without thought. If we aren’t used to confrontation, or view the situation as something we’d only make worse, our fight or flight instinct just stalls out. No thought. No movement. Only later, thinking back do people question themselves on this, if they ever do. The fact that you know why you didn’t means you’re more self aware than a lot of people. It seems to be worst, when the situation is truly awful. But, I’m not a psychologist. One of those could explain this phenomenon better. 😀

There are situations in which that is a good thing. It’s not about gaining or losing followers. It’s about finding those people who stick around because they are actual friends or fans. These are the people you reply to and interact with. Conversation is the goal of Social Media. Not a yearbook photo.
