Restaurants should save 1 reservation every night for an auction with a clearing price. Purely a reservation spot—you pay the normal bill. If doesn’t clear, give to waitlist. Split the upside with ownership and tips for staff.

Maybe not to this extreme, but isn’t this the premise of Tock? Just haven’t seen straight up surge pricing for reservations for spots yet

I’m not super familiar with Tock, but more of a norm / every restaurant should do this.
