I wrote a 9-page guide on how to negotiate your salary: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RkyqijoSb6ZKfhCeKkxnQMJ7XkXqY8k8kgw6tFNLKgg/edit For founders: I write about negotiating, which you can use for anything. For job seekers: I provide resources, links, and sentences you can use during salary negotiation.

How often should we ask for a salary increase at our current job? It'd be cool to see more negotiating techniques for those of us in early-stage startups. What if the startup is struggling and crypto is in a bear market? How should we proceed?

Once a year, but if the startup is struggling you probably won’t get a raise. A founder has you prioritize the health of the entire company before you. You should probably move jobs if you’re not getting paid what you want!

Ideally you would get salary raises based on performance, which can/should be more than once a year (given that the company's finances are solid). Likewise, performance reviews should not just happen once a year!
