@dwr.eth how do I set my default DM message retention to one year instead of one month?

you can only do it per DM in the upper right hand there will be the 30-day, click that and it will change to 1-year.

would you prefer to change all default? we don't currently have that option but can consider adding it

Yes, I want it. It’s not uncommon for me to read DMs on X from years ago for two reasons:

- remembering context of someone I’ve interacted with
- looking up the Lore of how a friendship started

Tbh I’d rather them never disappear. And if I have to pay more for that if I’m a minority, so be it.

Wow, yeah now I’m scrolling through all of my DMs and most of them say no messages and now I’m viscerally bothered that all of that context is gone

Like me and @triumph DM’d in November and I have no recollection of what about and neither of us will ever remember 😢
