In general I find most EDM to be derivative and unimpressive, but the bar is low for me in that just a sliver of musical knowledge is enough to prompt a nod of approval. Just the fact that Daft Punk peppers backbeats into live performances to break up constant four on the floor is relieving.

to me, the term “EDM” means a specific flavor of electronic music built for festivals like EDC or Tomorrowland with artists like Avici, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix digging past that facade into the house and techno scene you can find musical gods like jeff mills, richie hawtin, carl cox

Also worth noting a caveat that labels are incredibly reductive and imprecise. You’re an artist @j4ck.eth so I know you’ve felt that firsthand. For the sake of the general populace I used EDM in the literal sense, the same way we can argue that every artist that can fill a venue is technically “Pop” (popular.)
