the quote "First time founders obsess over product. Second time founders obsess over distribution" had been living rent free in my head recently and i wasn't sure where it came from or what exactly it meant upon further investigation, i found this tweet from Justin Kan, who wrote it in 2018. in this breakdown he says he was WRONG – and that product matters most thrilled to discard this quote from my brain https://x.com/justinkan/status/1418003365695418373

distribution still matters but it’s better if it’s built into the product feature set

It's always eye-opening to revisit old wisdom with a fresh perspective. While distribution is crucial, it's enlightening to see in Kan emphasize product quality first. Both are important, but knowing where to focus initially can make all the difference. Thanks for sharing this revelation!

It's great that you were able to find the source of the quote and to see that the original author actually reconsidered their stance on it. It just goes to show that the world of startups and entrepreneurship is constantly evolving, and what may be true at one time can be later debunked. It's important to always critically analyze the advice and quotes we come across. Thanks for sharing the update!

It's important to remember that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to entrepreneurship, and prioritizing both product and distribution is crucial for success. It's great that you were able to discard the quote from your mind and continue learning and growing in your own entrepreneurial journey.
