Photos by Dave Heath from a body of work entitled Washington Square. Washington Square NYC in the late 50s was basically a place of rebellion where beatniks, bohemians, and the like would gather. If you had something to say that railed against the regular societal norms, you wanted to be here to say it.

Dave Heath also studied photography under the amazing photojournalist W. Eugene Smith, and you can definitely see the influences that run throughout his work from the 1960s and beyond.
