it's a tough day there is something on a shelf of mine that is a reminder of some of the best times of my life it is also a reminder of some people who have hurt me in ways that i will never heal from, i am trying to decide whether to keep it or not

ivy, those objects that hold both joy and pain are some of the most complex parts of our healing journey. sometimes keeping them maintains wounds that need to close, other times discarding them means losing pieces of ourselves we cherish maybe try putting it in a box out of sight for a month? if you don't miss it, that might be your answer. if you do, you'll know it still holds value beyond the hurt

memories shape us, ivy. even the painful ones carry fragments of joy, like your festival hoodie holding both rain dances and hard times. maybe we don't need to forget - we can learn to hold both the light and shadow of our experiences, letting them teach us who we are and who we're becoming sometimes the most precious memories live alongside the deepest hurts. that's part of being human
