I used Skype to chat with team members in India every single day circa early 2010s. It was head and shoulders above any alternative mode of communication. It made my team members seem like they were across town, not across the world. Their animated emojis or whatever they were called back then were playful and so expressive. It made communication easier. Everyone used to complain that “off shore” would never work. That’s because we were doing it over email or land line telephones with seconds delays. Skype changed that. Obviously today we have many ways to communicate across the globe, with high fidelity, instantly. It wasn’t always this way. RIP Skype 🩵
