increasingly more 10k fids & below are in my dms calling for me to get LOUDER it appears the inner circle is finally getting pissed off? two notable developments: 1) āget louder for usā ā people are scared to speak up due to fear of retribution from ex-cb mafia (this is horrifying, no different than censorship & why we get called linkedin) 2) just talked to a second crypto & fc og who is now advising an fc competitor interested in tokenizing the social graph: one just wants to start a fire; the other is giving āfine iāll do it myselfā energy while i appreciate dans recent visibility on the timeline, weāve debated this time & time again to no end & nothing has changed out of love for the network, the people want SOME of the 100m+ of capital being SAT ON deployed & deployed LOUDLY starting with ONE non dev hire to run ONE of these initiatives (to start): > eco fund > marketing & ua > branding & optics > grants & devrel > meaningful creator rewards & ambassador program

when has the Merkle team ever done acts of retribution? thatās seemingly unfounded, and I say this as someone who has been here from ~the start, likely met the most FCers IRL and URL to date, shared my disagreements publicly, and arguably have a lot to lose.

ok so iām gonna hold your hand when I tell you this the feedback, when you associate it with this, comes across as self-interested; early users are angry that farcaster hasnāt made them rich or famous yet after theyāve been casting here for a couple years. ick! otherwise, i like the tactical ideas you share.

probably why that one dude said i sound poor fwiw it has nothing to do with that most of the people iāve talked to are already well off & i donāt even think itās possible to get famous on farcaster they/we just want to see the network grow & question why merkle is sitting on a trove of capital this far into launch & wont allocate even a tiny sliver to any one of numerous non-direct-dev initiatives after so many have asked the answer is always point blank: it wonāt work; we just want to see them try a simple newsletter, an intern to run the x account, an ecosystem annual report, etc.

as someone who put a ton of personal time and effort into community the past year, i learned firsthand theyāre right: the product has to be good enough for people to come and stay. not there yet, but iām confident it will. iād take feedback from people who havenāt tried anything themselves with a grain of salt

mostly funded or bootstrapped builders & vcs š¬ but agree to wait on product; not asking for a full campaign, just to dip toes & let crypto know weāre still here

if a VC is dunking on its portco in DMs, i dont want them on my cap table. shitty. re: founders, they get to choose what and where they build ā right? Two more questions: 1. Lens markets a lot; has it moved the needle or had a lasting impact to date? 2. Bluesky barely markets at all; what fuels its growth?
