guys, my therapist likes to butter me up by constantly comparing me to the “smartest client she’s ever worked with” she loves to tell me how he went to cornell & did his post-grad at harvard, but here’s the thing: he’s 56, lives alone & waits tables at a diner now tell me: what, on gods green earth, am i supposed to do with this information?

Intelligence hasn’t been a precursor for financial success for awhile and what you should ask is if he is happy 😊

well he’s going to a therapist, if that’s any indication but i suppose not necessarily; tho certainly feels like if you’re 40+ and going to a therapist, you are, in fact, in a bad place in life given all generational stigmatization like the first thing my dad said to me when he found out i was going to a therapist was “don’t worry, i wont tell anyone” lmfaoo

He can afford a therapist which suggests to me he wasn’t always waiting tables too I don’t think therapy is exclusively for the disturbed anymore, I am not sure how much that stigma bears out. I question slightly the idea that therapy means you’re unhappy
