i’m beginning to think base could outperform sol this run, with base memes running faster & further than sol memes & eth stealing the spotlight idk if this is a contrarian take on this app, but it definitely goes against the CT grain: sol may just be too dumb for this cycle i think we may see a rotation back into “more serious projects” especially given a DJT shift (america-first, rebuild ethos, left curve wanting to be mid) this, + if cb stock is the doormat, then cb wallet is the front door. anyone standing on the doormat is coming inside: 1-click link to bank; 1-click on/off CEX; 1-click top off with CC free USDC transfer; 1-click swaps into base; txt tokens to friends for anyone not in crypto, this is prob path of entry (stock>cb wallet) for anyone on cb cex, this is prob first cycle they swap onchain (see degen) sol not available on cb + inc. cringe sol influencers will hurt them this cycle imo, as absurdity as consensus may be flipped + no more binance or ftx… this is cb’s cycle to take

could this be the consolidation of memecoin slop? i mean if you click on any tweet by anyone with over 2k followers, the entire reply section is littered with random ass tickers so what is already bad, will now just get worse given ai agents are here to shill their coins into every corner of the internet at some point, the user is faced with analysis paralysis & becomes overwhelmed all these coins?! all going up?! wat do?! it is at that point that they just buy eth, btc, and whatever the top moving coin is on cb wallet (degen) & call it a day

Few thoughts: The degens are still predominantly on solana and that’s not changing imo very little will be “too dumb for this cycle” - we’re likely to left curve hard through this cycle CB/Base may have an advantage if they make onramping/offramping onto Base extremely easy and simple CB products need to get better in terms or UX/UI while uniting users, liquidity and activity

IMO Sol’s problem is that it’s like blur - the rapid pumpfun stuff abstracted and easy means the game runs too fast to get out of control. Eth is too expensive for rapid or small scale degeneracy. Base is cheap enough you can do it and still have a fragment of Eth liquidity.

it is fascinating to think of base and eth as contrarian when spending most of time here, but u are spot on it’s true outside of fc the crowds will onboard to base for utility (think usdc, or even fc) and speculation - they’ll onboard to solana for pure speculation hard to say which leads but i think both will happen w time, base target market larger imo

Thought about this as well. I feel like the missing piece is a one stop shop/ attraction like pump.fun where the majority of memes can be found. Also I'm curious about US flows vs rest of the world. I know it's a major player, but it's a big world.

My onboarding journey is similar to this thinking Chris Dixon -> Farcaster -> Coinbase (CEX/Wallet) -> --- Also I was flirting around on Solana, and transaction fees are much higher than Base! Perhaps it was the DEX I was using, but I was surprised! So that's also in-line with your thoughts. Memes make more sense on Base if you can do more txns!
