Curious what you think are the best ways to describe design when it is no longer human centric? One of my favourite terms is "Posthuman" design theory – think it was coined by Rosi Braidotti, which challenges us to rethink human-centered perspectives. This is not posthuman in the accelerationist / technocentric 'human-merging-with-tech' sense. The term posthuman here refers to moving past (post) the boundaries between human, animal, and machine; thereby decentering the human. It embraces the interconnectedness of all things – urging us to design with a broader ecological and ethical scope. This kind of design philosophy instills a much needed responsibility and ethics towards the planet and all of its beings, but most importantly I think it unlocks totally original lines of thinking and futures.
