warning: long read, personal POV i worked for years with brands, celebs, banks, investors, and foundations. i know how powerful brand marketing is in building trust and community. and as someone whose family, friends, and daily life don’t touch crypto (despite my best effort), i’m painfully aware of how bad crypto’s brand is. if you’re thinking “only XYZ is cringe,” hate to break it to you: to most people, there’s no difference between ethereum, solana or base. to them, it’s all just crypto. no amount of “man on the street” tiktoks, memecoins, or cypherpunk storytelling is going to fix that. i’ve been in crypto since 2018, and the most consistent thing i’ve seen convert skeptics into believers is simple: trusted humans. people change their minds when someone they trust shows them something they care about. maybe i’m wrong, but i still think the best way forward is what’s worked for every other network: good humans onboarding other good humans. it’s slow until it’s not.

I've been in crypto since it's inception. The only thing that makes believers is when they have more money than they started with in their bank account. This whole 'dev / builder only be positive' culture is in and of itself such a disgusting display of echo chamber elitism. I'm building a farcaster app with ONLY a dislike button.

It won't take off because the collective is incapable of healthy criticism anymore. Accountability is at odds with the culture here, however accountability is required for real people with real money and real concerns.this place is a rich, early adopters playground and the only reason I am here is because I recently turned $4k into $200 dollars on "the top frame". I am so desperate to turn my loss into something less than 90% I am here everyday for hopefully less than a year, then I am fucking out. For good. It's a wasteland and you guys will be wondering where everyone went for years before you realize we don't want to lose any more money. You're experience is different because you are an early adopter and at the top of this game and you'll be wondering why no one else likes it far too long before you realize you've helped rob the users you should have been onboarding.

> you’ve been in crypto since the beginning > you put $4,000 into a mini app > you’re blaming the platform instead of your decision to put $4,000 into a community created onchain experience sounds like you made a poor investment decision with money you weren’t willing to lose 😬
