Hey guys I have an honest question, been trying to figure this out:

 When people claim that Y thing is not “for the people,” or “not native” 

What exactly does that mean? Who are the people in this case? What defines nativity?

it’s basically saying that “y” thing originated from this group of people or culture and sometimes those groups like to keep those things to themselves to avoid westernization 
or “y” thing is used to mark something significant with a group of people who may feel offended if “y” thing is used for other reasons
