Gary Gensler has been criticized in the US Congress. Congressman Tom Emmer called Gensler the “most destructive” and “lawless” chairman in the regulator’s 90-year history, leading a “crusade” against the crypto industry. Emmer also criticized Gensler for his agencies’ handling of the Debt Box case, a case in which the SEC sued a crypto startup for an alleged $50 million fraud scheme and lost miserably. Gensler’s anti-cryptocurrency policies have set the USA back, and the SEC should have recognized long ago that crypto tokens are not securities, the congressman noted.
