Is it illegal to give away money to followers?

What if I said I would give 1 ETH to a randomly chosen follower this Friday? 

Screw it, let's do it. I'm gonna give someone 1 ETH on Friday.

Ok, this went a little crazy. Woke up to 1000+ notifications. 

I love hearing everyone’s story. The good and the bad. So many people doing good in the world and we all have our struggles. 

How should I decide or pick who to give the money to? 

I want it to be fair, and meaningful to someone.

I think someone that needs it the most, but how to know if they are being real and honest?...

I would love to be able to earn some money, in exchange for graphic design, UX design advise (25 years exp in the field), or photography work
