Apple’s strategy is to sell these products too early but make them look beautiful. So you buy and end up funding their supply chain, which allows them to make the actual product they want to make. Product and manufacturing genius.

No only that, but charging $3500+ for it makes it by default a verblen good that you will only ever see wealthy / "successful" people wearing or talking about - like the $18K 24K gold Apple Watch v1. It builds the brand even if they only ever sell 50K of them.
