first 5-10 hires for us would ideally be in person in NYC but... I can hire the same person in Spain for $60k/yr (vs $150k in NYC) I'm torn

Definitely choose the Spain option - worst case, you can have them over for an entire month three times a year and itβs still way cheaper

Just a thought - you're hiring not only for the function, but also your brothers/sisters in arm for quite a while. Being able to have them right next to you makes a difference. If you are hiring purely for function - hiring overseas makes sense.
