I assume you're familiar with the nazi bar parable? https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Nazi_bar
The premise is "the only way we get rid of nazis is by not allowing even one among us", the desired outcome is to have no nazis in society by doing this.
But the reality is that language is malleable, people are manipulative, society is fickle, everything gets weaponized. People are constantly getting accused of being nazis for the dumbest things (having a bored ape, being in crypto, what have you). The actual outcome is that people weaponize "the nazi bar" parable to push out anyone they don't like, and those people don't just magically disappear from society. They have to exist somewhere, so they continue to exist in places that co-exist with nazis (both actual or falsely-accused).
Now we're like "well if you're willing to co-exist with nazis, then you're a nazi", so everyone outside of the bar is de-facto nazi.
Eventually, the purity test becomes so intense that the bar is just the proud owner. 1 reply
