The funniest thing about it is that they agree that climate change is real, which means more extreme weather conditions are coming and at the same time decide to base their energy mix on weather-dependent renewables. And all that while having the biggest industry in Europe which needs cheap predictable energy

Apparently one idea there is to use wind energy when available to produce hydrogen---a two step approach to get drivable energy source. The catch is of course efficiency and environmental footprint compared with nuclear... after all wind is quite metal greedy, and hydrogen needs cooling.
