In most cases, I agree with this. General topic channels don't work well in the new model. They were built an era of channels as hashtags. There will be some exceptions, but will require a lot of work from the channel owner and moderators to make sure a large channel becomes and stays a community.

Agreed. I wanna cast about AI and my old casts in /ai got lots of engagement. Now I go to cast, not a member so can't post, so just fallback to the main feed. And get low engagement. 🤷‍♂️ It's an odd adjustment period at the moment.

reddit iirc has 1) community moderators 2) community members can mark as spam (wouldn’t encourage introducing downvote)

We ran that experiment for the last year and for the most part people didn't want to do the work. If we did Warpcast level spam filtering, people get upset. Thus, the new model for channels.
