I think that I can see what you are trying to say but sadly this is not the same as seizing the means of production.. laptops are manufactured by private companies.. you may install an open source linux distro but most of hardware is going to be private and secret, and opening it could be a problem for you.. we are far away of seizing our owns at our home.. like hardware and ofc thw wifi connection.. another single point of failure in hands of capitalists that want profits over quality.. not to talk on DNS, controlled by 7 person in the world.. well, we have the blockchain and we can build decentralized stuff and feel some freedom and ownership of some means of production but we are far away to really seize them
