Avoidable how so? 

To me this feel like a lagging indicator of covid and the injection of two trillion into monetary supply, during 0% interest rate times (when nobody was borrowing) to stimulate economic activity… Many brands and businesses have adjusted for post covid inflation, debasement, and cost of goods and services + cost of living increases. 

Counterintuitively, salaries have an upward pressure (for employees) and a downward pressure (for companies)
