My dad who has worked for the same company as a lead engineer for the last 30+ years lost his job today, exactly 1 year before he could retire.

Shit like this just reaffirms in my mind that people shouldn’t give the best years of their lives to some soulless company that doesn’t care. 

I certainly won’t do it.

Doing the conventional "right thing" career-wise has def become the wrong thing. 100 $degen

Yeah, I think it’s almost mandatory nowadays to career hop if you want your salary to keep up.

I’m blessed with 1 job that truly cares about me. The other, not so much.
