When Danen and I started the business, we knew we needed to design and build indoor farms that were sustainable.

During one of our early tinkering sessions, we had a decision to make. To either not worry about water and fertilizer usage, or to worry so much about it that we had to build around recycling it. 

We chose the latter, and then endured the blood, sweat, and tears of trial and error in bringing a new technology to life over the past 8 years.

For every month we grow food at our farm, we save a year’s worth of water when compared to traditional farming.

In the 24 months our farm here at Clayton Farms Salads Ames has been growing, we’ve saved over 300,000 gallons of water (not to mention the thousands of pounds of fertilizer). 

I like the idea that our farmin’ ensures future generations can enjoy it as well.
