Palestinians in Gaza are protesting Hamas for the second day straight, because they blame the group for starting the war with Israel. What do people think of this and its implications? /politics /dropglobalnews https://x.com/ihabhassane/status/1904888928924057750?s=46 https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/25/world/middleeast/gaza-protests-hamas.html

(1) It’s complex in a way that I’m not sure how to unravel - hamas is a terrorist organization with full control (I think?) over the deliberations with their neighbors, the same neighbors who have controlled their borders so tightly to enable the formation of such a terrorist government in the first place. These peoples and this land have been controlled throughout history by others who laid claim to the land and the people who have lived there. The British had control before the Israel was established, and the west has had interest in keeping an eye on the area for years (pre dating WWI). And the Jewish people needed a safe haven following WWII, so why not go to a religious homeland and be a convenient democratic ally.

(2) I hope the people of Palestine can be given the space and autocracy to govern themselves I hope this isn’t insensitive i am not a scholar in this at all but I grew up in a very Jewish area & love the Jewish religion&culture, so Israel-Palestine conflict has always been something I’ve heard about in a nuanced and multi-opinionated way
