Why is Silicon Valley so conservative? Is it really the new old-boys club villain-era origination story? I studied sex work in college (circa 2015) and all kinds of it was rampant in the Bay Area bc they guys wouldn’t let the gals in and the gals were highly educated so they instead took to a career where they could choose their boundaries and pay Is it bc these are all little weenies But the white supremacy stuff I do not get. Like are they that insecure Genuinely asking bc I am so not clued into the tech culture beyond the interactions I have on here. And I trust women’s opinions first, typically

tl;dr a lot of ppl are followers and feminism is viewed as an invading force in a lot of those circles, a lot of nerd circles view this article as gospel and insightful when it's really reductive wrt women finally gaining ground https://meaningness.com/geeks-mops-sociopaths

i think it's just the culture combined with a few influential personalities ie there are organized sex parties that are allegedly focused on CNC, i think you can't escape the message that sends some of it is just edgelords but curtis yarvin believes in what he says, as do a lot of the surrounding personalities

Crazy how the bay area used to be progressive and its sort of reversed course now that there is even more money than before. The tech bros bought out the hippies. The whole vibe massively shifted once those google buses started taking over the streets of SF.
