We know what Elon would say about this but how much of it is bc of post colonial drawn borders and other external actor interference causing destabilization.

I don't think it's the borders; that wouldn't explain the last-decade uptick. I feel it's external actors: French withdrawal has worsened the security situation in sub-Sahara in particular, and Russia has pushed more since Crimea gained them a Mediterranean port
