Today, I'm sharing the "Literal" side of our Creative Direction -- the spaces where makers make, where communities connect, and where creativity happens. I want to figure out how to tell the maker story, and the literal spaces where they make are a unique perspective to try and capture. I've had and worked in great maker spaces over the years, and they are magical spaces where you can *feel* the creativity just by being surrounded by those walls. That said, the "literal" theme isn't just about workshops and studios -- it's also your favorite corner store, the local bodega, or the basement shop filled with stuff -- those cozy spaces where you can feel community, creativity, and connection. These spaces are where ideas become real, and people gather, exchange, and build. In our coming Season 1 relaunch/rebrand, you'll see these vibes baked into the entire Higher Market experience. The Market reopens on 2/25/25.

The Market is Always Open—Even Behind the Scenes. Over the next few days, I’ll share some behind-the-scenes thinking from the Higher Market rebrand & relaunch (2/25/25). I’ve spent a lot of time refining the brand and creative framework—moving beyond the creative chaos of Season 0 toward something more consistent and recognizable. When defining the creative direction, I kept coming back to the energy of real-world markets—places that are vibrant, textured, and full of personality. We landed on five core categories to guide that: 🖤 Black & White – timeless, high-contrast, and grounded in tradition 🌈 Colorful & Bold – playful, layered, and vibrant 📸 Literal – process shots and product details that tell the maker’s story 🎨 Abstract – digital textures and patterns reflecting the future 🍂 Seasonal – visuals inspired by the changing moods of the year I’ll start by sharing a few Black & White examples -- more soon ↑
