If Eth user experience gets solved by abstracting away which chain you're using, doesn't that essentially make using ethereum trust based, because you won't know if the L2 ur using actually secures itself with ethereum in a decentralized way? Struggling to see how eth scales without losing it's trustlessness somewhat

It could be that rollups progress through the rollups stages below, and towards an abstracted and peerless UX. And only the ones that achieve both go on to earn the greatest usage at global scale https://l2beat.com/scaling/summary

L2s are in a temporary “try a bunch of things to see what works best phase” (no different really than any actively developed L1 solving their own scaling/other) issues and the early technical users will pick the suitable winners for mass interest which isn’t here yet.
