The tariff also raises the aluminum rate from 10% to 25% and expands coverage to 259 derivative items like bolts and nuts. As a result, Korea's previously negotiated duty-free steel export quota (2.63 million tons) has been eliminated. While the removal of export limits could boost Korean firms’ U.S. market presence, heightened price competitiveness of U.S. products may reduce demand for Korean steel. The tariffs impact around $150 billion in imports.
